Our Rohe
Te Arawa
Mai Maketu ki Tongariro
Ko Te Arawa te Waka
Ko Te Arawa Māngai Nui,
Ūpoko Tūtakitaki
For Te Arawa, it is our whakapapa connections to our whenua, our shared history, and each other are the foundations of all our relationships. These connections must always be honoured.
Te Taura Ora o Waiariki is the legislated Iwi Māori Partnership Board for the Rotorua area committed to driving change in Māori health outcomes within our rohe.
We are connected throughout Te Arawa takiwā, working closely alongside Tūwharetoa and Te Moana a Toi Iwi Māori Partnership Boards.
By understanding key health needs (using statistical data), and whānau voice (through online engagement and kanohi ki te kanohi hui) we will be able to impact our whānau health & wellbeing outcomes.
Looking ahead, we must expect greater things from the new Te Whatu Ora structure if we are to achieve the promise of transformation for Māori. Things such as:
- A greater commitment by the Crown to building
and maintaining Te Tiriti based relationships; - Increased support and resources to build
greater capability in the Māori health sector and, - Sharing information sooner, greater
transparency and inclusion.
