Whānau Voice
Listening to the voices of our whānau to shape hauora and wellbeing
Whānau Voice is about hearing directly from our people – their experiences, their needs, and what matters most for their wellbeing.
What is Whānau Voice?
Whānau Voice is the collection of perspectives, experiences, knowledge and aspirations of whānau about what matters most to their hauora and wellbeing.
It reflects whānau views on their lived experience of health and social systems, grounded in Māori values such as whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and tino rangatiratanga. This kōrero is shared in ways that make sense to whānau, and provides authentic insight into what whānau want, need and prioritise for themselves and their communities.
Why collect Whānau Voice?
IMPBs collect Whānau Voice so that decision-making in hauora and wellbeing services is shaped by the real experiences and aspirations of whānau, rather than assumptions.
Whānau Voice helps IMPBs advocate for culturally responsive, equitable services and improvements in planning, funding, and delivery across the health system. It ensures whānau perspectives are front and centre in strategies and policies that affect their lives, enabling better outcomes and stronger community wellbeing.
